THE DESIGN PROCESS

A typical full service design process follows this outline. We have found it to be the most successful both for W+H Design and our clients.

PHASE I

Step I: Initial Consultation

At the initial consultation we will talk about your project in-depth, including how you envision your home and all your hopes and dreams. Here we will look at your space/s, take pictures, and preliminary measurements. We will explain how we work, answer any questions you may have, offer suggestions and some beginning ideas, and necessary information. If we are a good fit, we will move on to the next step.

Step II: Scope of Work, Contract, and Retainer

We will then take what all we discuss and put what you are wanting in a Scope of Work (SOW). In the Scope of Work, we will include a detailed description specific to your needs, our policies and procedures, and the cost for the design plan. Once you approve the SOW, we will send an invoice to collect a retainer and begin designing!

Step III: Design Development/Meetings/Approvals

Once you have signed the SOW and we have collected payment, we will begin working for you: creating scaled renderings, specifying products, and creating a mood board to help you envision these items in your space/s. After we have made all of the requested selections as outlined in the SOW, we will schedule a meeting. Here we will include samples where applicable and provide a document (mood board) we will use to walk you through the selections we have recommended for your spaces/s. This will then be sent to you shortly after our meeting. Based on your feedback, we will send detailed specifications of each item as well as cost for your approval. We will send tear sheets of the items for you to approve and collect payment.

PHASE II

Step IV: Collecting bids, where applicable/Trade Day

Renderings and/or specifications from W+H design will be used as a guideline for our tradespeople where applicable and we will send out for bidding and meet at your home for them to see and bid the space properly. This could range from a contractor to a painter, drapery installer, or a carpenter.

Step IV: Order Processing

For specific products that have been approved, orders will be placed immediately. Items will be sent to a receiver and delivered once they are ready to be placed in your home. For remodels, the contractor usually orders the flooring, cabinetry, etc. These items will be stored until the contractor or tradesperson has them delivered to your home.

PHASE III

Step V: Check Ins/Tracking

Various reviews will happen throughout this phase, including site visits, where applicable, and communication with our vendors and you. The items will be tracked and, once we have all items at the receiver, we will schedule installation (Yeah!)

Step VI: Installation

At last, W+H Design will meet the delivery team to place your furniture and put the final touches to the design, including directing placement of the items.
